Your Life’s Industry

Life is meant to be cherished. Before continuing this morning, I want to take a moment of pause and prayer for those who lost their lives 15 years ago today.

“I will be with you” – Isaiah 43:2

“The meaning of life is to find your gift. The purpose of life is to give it away” – William Shakespeare

Welcome beautiful to another morning full of peace and warmth. Warm because I am sitting wrapped up in a cozy blanket cupping my hot cup of coffee. I just went and bought Starbucks’ new Fall Seasonal Roast with my hazelnut creamer made from almond milk, so my heart is happy. Peaceful because this morning I decided to actually have a morning. I have woken up to an alarm for seven days straight and listened to the constant movement of girls getting ready for their day. As you can see, I have thoroughly enjoyed an empty room with nothing but me and some beautiful flowers. I hope you gave a morning to yourself in order to prepare for another busy, yet amazing, week ahead.

Yesterday I was asked what my goal was to achieve before graduating next year. Did I just say next year? That is a scary thought but exciting because I now have just under two years to do exactly what I want to do before diving into the world. What do I want to do? I want to connect with as many people as I can. I have decided to do that through events. Whether that is planning, hosting, guiding or attending. I have recognized clearly that my gift is not anything to do in the medical or political field. The thought of hospitals makes me want to cry and watching people argue over political beliefs makes my anxiety levels shoot through the ceiling. With that being said, I have decided to take my love for talking and pleasing others to dive into the event industry.

My parents raised me by making me attend every event they were invited to. I can’t remember an anniversary dinner or family function my sister and I didn’t attend. With that experience, I was taught how to maturely present myself in adult atmospheres and understand how important presentation is. Presentation, whether that is at your venue, how you dress or how you speak, is a key component at events. I love working hard in order to see the finish product of everyone having a good time because life is hard and sometimes you need to enjoy the fun times because as I said earlier, life is meant to be cherished.

Within two weeks I have coordinated three events. There were times when I thought that I overbooked myself and that possibly was true, but not every event has to be luxurious with catered food and decorations. Last night, I hosted a sleepover for over 40 girls and all I needed was a batch of cookies, music, comfy blankets, and a high spirit. I want to make other people happy. Sometimes I focus on this too much and lose my own happiness because we can’t live a life pleasing others all the time. If this is you also, find balance in finding what you love and loving others.

Shape your life into an industry you love. My industry is events and yours is probably something totally different and that is okay! I admire people who can save lives in hospitals, debate with someone over a hard topic, or teach children. We are all gifted and you my dear will go so far in life if you make your life your industry. Don’t let anyone tell you you can’t do something. You have the world on your fingertips. Take this week and discover what you love to do. If you love to cook, go make dinner for you and your roommates! Cherish life and your gift because you are special. X O X O –
